Fort Myers Beach 4th of July Festivities return this year with a parade down Estero Blvd starting a Bay Oaks Recreation Center at 10 AM. The Fireworks show will begin at 9 AM at Times Square.
Downtown Fort Myers annual Freedom Fest block party has been transformed into a new concert and fireworks event saluting Southwest Florida’s veterans and active military. The 17-piece Venice Symphony Jazz Orchestra performs patriotic hits at 8 PM Thursday, July 4th, followed by fireworks over the Caloosahatchee River at about 9:45 PM.
The City of Bonita Springs ignites its Star-Spangled Bonita 4th of July celebration at Riverside Park from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Ben Allen Band performs to kick off the evening, followed by a golf cart parade and fireworks show at dusk to end the night’s festivities. The Freedom 5K in Cape Coral has dedicated races and awards for each age group and skill level, so the running ‘field’ is leveled out evenly. There will be a special Challenge Coin Ceremony for Veterans before awards are handed out. Participants will receive a goodie bag with a commemorative T-shirt, raffle tickets, and discount coupons.
Registering for the kid’s race costs $15, and the 5K ranges between $20 for veterans and $35 for everyone else.

In Punta Gorda, Fishermen’s Village is hosting fun activities from noon through 9 p.m. The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m., where the best views will come on the west side of the property.
Before the fireworks, there’s a Freedom Swim at 1:30 p.m. and live music on the beach starting at 5 p.m. Musicians include Mark Gorka and From the Edge.
