Women of Americana arrives at 7:30 p.m. at BIG ARTS Sanibel with a live, multimedia tribute to the early folk, country, gospel and Western swing that shaped American music. Led by Cristina Vane and Brennen Leigh, the program revisits songs popularized by Joan Baez, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and others—pairing tight harmonies and string work with archival visuals timed to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

 

The Laboratory Theater of Florida—known for its role in increasing diversity in Lee County’s theater scene—brings August Wilson’s Two Trains Running to Fort Myers. From Friday’s opening night performance through March 8, the production offers a distilled look into the lives of Black Americans in 1969 through a conversation among diner regulars navigating money, power and self-determination as their neighborhood shifts around them. With performances scheduled throughout the run, it’s a sharp, timely look at value and freedom on a Fort Myers stage.


Local favorite Danny Sinoff brings more than 20 years of Great American Songbook experience to the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center stage, with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and a concert at 7:30 p.m.. The Naples-raised pianist and baritone—known for his long-standing Southwest Florida residencies and New York appearances—builds the evening on swing, storytelling and what he calls “two instruments in conversation,” piano and voice. Expect standards from his forthcoming album, Make Someone Happy, delivered with polish and purpose.
