Tonight, the Fort Myers Philharmonic presents Honoring Our Heroes at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall at 7:30 p.m., a concert built to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11. Naples holds its own Candlelight Remembrance at Fred W. Coyle Freedom Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On Sunday morning, the Naples Memorial Stair Climb at the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort honors our first responders from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Whether you live here year round or split your time between here and the north, these are meaningful ways to mark the day together.

Comedy and Candlelight

Once the weekend turns, Off the Hook Comedy Cafe welcomes Shayne Smith and Mike Abrusci for a three night run, Friday through Sunday. Saturday night brings something a little different: Gulf Coast Symphony's Music & Arts Community Center hosts a candlelight tribute to the Beatles at 6 p.m., followed by a tribute to Michael Jackson at 8:30 p.m. It is the kind of evening that reminds you Southwest Florida has more going on than the beach, though the beach is never far away either.

Dining, Music and the Everyday Good Life

Sizzle Dining continues at Mercato all month, giving locals and visitors a reason to try something new at some of Naples' best tables. Live music fills patios and waterfront bars all weekend long, from Blue Martini and the Snook Inn to The Stage in Bonita Springs and Rusty's Raw Bar & Grill across Lee County. Farmers markets run Saturday and Sunday in Naples, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Sanibel and beyond for anyone looking to shop local.
