Things to Do in Naples and Southwest Florida This Weekend, August 7-9, 2026

If you are wondering what there is to do in Naples and Southwest Florida this weekend, the short answer is more than you might expect for the middle of August.

Southwest Florida does not take a break in the summer months. The calendar just shifts indoors and into the evening, and this weekend proves it.

Friday evening starts at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, where Audubon hosts a Sunset Stroll along the boardwalk. Visitors walk the swamp as the light fades, watching for owls and alligators along the way. It is one of the quieter ways to experience the natural side of Collier County, and a reminder that life here is not only about the beach.

For something livelier, The Naples Players open Les Miserables Teen at the Kizzie Theater Friday night, a preview of the live theater that runs through the Naples Players' season year round. In Bonita Springs, Ankrolab Brewing Company hosts Wonder on Tap, a craft beer fundraiser benefiting Wonder Gardens, complete with animal ambassadors and games.

Saturday afternoon belongs to the Naples Jazzmasters, who bring Dixieland and swing standards to the Norris Community Center in Cambier Park at 1 p.m., free and open to the public. That evening, Arts Bonita's Performing Arts Center welcomes Kelly Hunt and Sara Morgan for an evening of Americana harmonies. Farmers markets run all over the region Saturday morning, from Third Street South in downtown Naples to the Promenade at Bonita Bay.

Sunday keeps the pace easy. Farmers markets continue on Sanibel Island and along Pine Ridge Road, and Bay Street Yard hosts an afternoon Beauty Night Social Experience for anyone who wants a little pampering before the week starts.

If you are new to the area, or still deciding whether a move to Naples or Southwest Florida is right for you, weekends like this one are worth paying attention to. This is not a vacation calendar. It is a regular week in a place where live music, art, and community events are simply part of how people live. Culture here is not reserved for season. It runs year round, from Naples and Bonita Springs to Estero, Fort Myers, and Marco Island.

For those relocating from the Northeast or Midwest, this is often the biggest surprise. A Tuesday can include live jazz. A Saturday morning starts at a farmers market instead of a snowy driveway. Culture and community are simply built into daily life here.
