Opera Naples kicks off its fifth annual Festival Under the Stars at Naples’ Cambier Park. This year, the two-week outdoor festival is going bigger, with three full operas and a concert from the winners of the inaugural Luciano Pavarotti Foundation Opera Naples International Voice Competition—a revival of the maestro’s famed contests—on Thursday night. This rare opportunity to discover the next generation of opera greatness is followed by Friday’s opening performance of The Magic Flute conducted by music director Ramón Tebar. Bring the kids out for Opera Naples’ Family & Community Day on Saturday for arts and crafts, activities and a performance of The Ugly Duckling at noon. Catch additional performances of The Magic Flute, La Bohème, The Mikado and more through March 15.
